Top 5 Things to ask your Wedding Caterer

We know it can be a huge challenge trying to decide on the perfect caterer for your wedding, there are so many things to discuss and decide upon and it can often feel like a bit of a minefield!  Getting the food right for a wedding is such an important decision and something that will probably be remembered by your guests for many years to come!

We have years of experience in catering for a wide range of beautiful weddings across the Yorkshire Dales, so we have come up with the top 5 things that you should ask your caterer before you sign on the dotted line!

If you think we have missed anything off please don’t hesitate to let us know and get in touch if you would like our help with wedding catering for your special day.

How many weddings will you cater for on the day of my wedding?

Ideally you want to be the only wedding that your caterer is working for on that day, we only cater for one wedding per day so we can focus all of our attention on creating delicious food for you and your guests to enjoy.

Are you licensed to serve alcohol?

This is an incredibly important question as most people enjoy a tipple at a wedding and sourcing one company who can look after all of the food and drink will make it much easier for you in the run up to the wedding.  We have a special Bar Hire facility available which is perfect for weddings, it stocks locally sourced beers as well as wine and spirits, all served with some local Yorkshire charm.

How flexible are you with the menu choices?

This is a vital question to ask, ideally you want to hire a caterer that is flexible with their approach to food, you don’t want to have to pick your wedding food from a pre-selected sheet of paper, how uncreative and unadventurous is that?  Your wedding menu should truly reflect your personalities and the foods that you and your partner like to enjoy!  We love creating bespoke menus for our couples, making sure the food is just as memorable as the dress and the first dance!

Where do you source your food from?

Wherever possible we try to source our food as locally as possible as we believe it simply tastes better!  Make sure that your caterer is not buying in pre-bought canapes and puddings and try to limit the miles that your food has to travel, this is becoming more and more important to many of the couples that we speak with.  Believe it or not there are a lot of companies out there who are not as passionate about where their food is coming from and your wedding day is too important for this to not be considered.

What equipment will you be providing?

You need to make sure that your catering company can provide cutlery, plates and drinks glasses if you need them.  Find out straight away if there is an additional charge for this so that you can budget this in to your costs, it will also ensure that you are not running around the day before trying to source 120 soup spoons! We provide cutlery, crockery, linen, staff  as standard with all of our wedding catering packages and can provide glassware, bar service and drink packages if requested to.

We hope that you have found this blog post to be useful and informative!  Catering for weddings is such an exciting job and remember at all times that it is your wedding day, so you should only eat what makes you happy!  We have catered for such a huge range of weddings and sitting down to discuss a menu with a couple is such an exciting and creative process which should be an enjoyable experience for both parties!
